
Mark Nazemi
Co-Founder
Mark Nazemi is an award-winning innovator working at the intersection of sound, digital art, and design. With over two decades of experience in health technology, interactive arts, and education, his work bridges art and science to explore how sensory experiences can regulate the nervous system and support human wellbeing.
In 2024, Mark was recognized as Clinical Innovator of the Year by Digital Health Canada for his health innovation collaboration with The Ottawa Hospital and BC Cancer in the area of cancer survivorship.
Holding a PhD in Interactive Arts and Technology, Mark’s research investigates how sound and multisensory composition can influence pain and anxiety to promote calm and connection. His work on sound and pain management has been presented at leading international conferences, including CHI, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the Congress of the European Pain Federation, Siggraph Asia, Audio Mostly, and ARTECH, and has been featured by CBC Radio and American News Report.
Mark’s career spans health innovation, creative technology, and higher education. He has provided consulting and design expertise across the entertainment, healthcare, and education sectors. He has received multiple distinctions, including the Quality Service Award from the Kaiser Permanente Journal and the R. Murray Schafer Scholarship for his research in soundscapes for pain management.
As Co-Founder of Sensorium Health and a lecturer at Simon Fraser University, Mark leads the creative and scientific direction behind Sensorium’s immersive dome — a living system integrating spatial sound, vibroacoustics, chromotherapy, and biofeedback to promote calm, connection, and human flourishing. His work embodies a deep commitment to advancing the field of neuroaesthetics and redefining how technology can nurture the mind-body connection.
